19740327 r-74-7RESOLUTION NO. R-74-7 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax Virginia, believes that applications for amendments to the City Zoning ordinance should be thoroughly examined by the City Planning Commission in order that the Planning Commission might give to the City Council its recommendations on the merits of said amendments; and WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that to permit an applicant to amend his application with respect to the areas to be zoned or categories in which they are to be zoned during or after his presentation to the City Planning Commission and without requiring him to return to the Planning Commission for a second examination of the amended application would be to frustrate the reasons for requiring a review by the Planning Commission. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that the City's firm and official policy is that in all cases where application has been made for an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance, the application shall be heard by the City Planning Commission which shall make its recommendation on the unamended applica- tion to the City Council. No amendments with respect to the areas to be zoned or categories in which they are to be zoned shall be made to the application prior to or during Council hearing unless the applicant has returned for a second hearing on the amended application before the Planning Commission. Dedications to the City are not to be construed as amendments to the application. Introduced: March 5, 1974. Attest: Enacted: March 27, Mayor C i~cy Cle rk
