19721205 r-72-26 RESOLUTION R-72-26 WHEREAS, Sections 14.1-63 and 14.1-79 of the Code of Virginia, as amended by the 1972 Session of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, provide that the salaries and expenses authorized by the Compensation Board for the offices of the Attorneys for the Commonwealth, Treasurers, Commissioners of the Revenue and Sheriffs may be paid by the respective county or city and that such county or city may be reimbursed directly by the State for the State's part; and WHEREAS, said sections were specifically amended to read that "Any county or city which elects to do so, may pay the entire amount of such salaries, expenses and other allowances upon notification to the Board and if such an election is made, the State shall reimburse any such county or city for the State's pro- portionate share of such salaries, compensation, benefits under ~ 51-111-36, and other expense allowances"; and WHEREAS, after due consideration and deliberation as to the effect upon the City of Fairfax of such an election by its governing body with respect to the salaries, expenses and other allowances of all said Constitutional Officers of the City of Fairfax; now therefore BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Fairfax elects to pay the entire amount of the salaries, expenses and other allowances of all of its said Constitutional Officers effective January 1, 1973, and henceforth, and to receive reimbursement for the State's proportionate share of same as provided by Sections 14.1-63 and 14.1-79 of the Code of Virginia, as amended to date, and hereby directs the Clerk of the City of Fairfax to so notify the Compensation Board of the Commonwealth of Virginia forthwith.
