RESOLUTION ENDORSING
"PITCH IN WEEK"
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Washington Council of
Governments has conducted area-wide efforts for years toward
a cleaner, healthier Metropolitan Washington, and
WHEREAS, the local governments of this region long
have recognized the cost which litter causes our citizens both
in dollars and in the quality of life, and
WHEREAS, the United States Brewer's Association is
engaged in a year-long campaign to rid this nation of its
litter and is appealing to all of us to "pitch in to clean
up America," and
WHEREAS, the week of July 9 - 15 will be designated as
"Pitch In Week" in the District of Columbia, and
WHEREAS, this effort must be area-wide in scope if
it is to be effective, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan
Washington Council of Governments has endorsed this observance
and called upon the local governments of the Washington area to
join the District of Columbia in designating the week of July
9 - 15 as "Pitch In Week" in their own localities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and
City Council are pleased to endorse this observance and designates
the week of July 9 - 15 as "Pitch In Week" in the City of Fairfax
and urges Fairfax citizens to participate enthusiastically in this
"Pitch In Week."
