RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the Board of County Supervisors of Fairfax
County, Virginia, the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, the County School Board of Fairfax County, Virginia,
and the School Board of the City of Fairfax, Virginia entered
into an agreement dated October 30, 1968 which provides, among
other things, for the purchase of all of the old Fairfax High
School property by the School Board of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, and the conveyance of the old high school facility
and the property upon which it is built to the School Board of
the City of Fairfax, Virginia on the date of occupancy of the
new Fairfax High School, and the conveyance of the remainder of
the old high school property to the School Board of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia or its assignee upon a subsequent date or
dates; and
WHEREAS the new Fairfax High School will be occupied
on or about January 3, 1972; and
WHEREAS the School Board of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia has found that all of the old Fairfax High School
property is surplus and unnecessary for school purposes; and
WHEREAS the School Board of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia wishes to be relieved of the obligation of maintaining
the said property and of making the payments required by the
said agreement dated October 30, 1968; and
WHEREAS the School Board of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia has declared by resolution passed December 6, 1971,
(a copy of which is attached hereto) that it intends to transfer
all of its claim, right, title and interest to the old Fairfax
High School property, as well as any obligations in connection
therewith to the City Council of the City of Falrfax, Virginia;
and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia is willing to accept the said property and the obligatiol

of making the payments required by the agreement dated
October 30, 1968.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia,
agrees to accept title to the old Fairfax High School
facility and the property upon which it is built on or

2. That the City Council o£ the City of Fairfax, Virginia,
~agrees to accept title to the balance of the old Fairfa×
High School property at such time or times as the County
School Board of Fairfax County, Virginia is required to
convey such balance to the School Board of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia or its assignee.
That the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia
agrees to assume the responsibility of maintaining the
property effective January 3, 1972.
4. That the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia
agrees to assume all obligations of the School Board of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia to the County School Board of the
County of Fairfax, Virginia to make further payments for the
said property.
5. That the City At.torney o£ the City of Falrfax, Virginia is
authorized to take such steps as may be necessary to imple-
ment this resolution.
