JOINT RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE FAIRFAX-
FALLS CHURCH COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AND
MENTAL RETARDATION SERVICES BOARD
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Fairfax,
Virginia, and the City Councils of the Cities of Fairfax and Falls
Church, Virginia, have heretofore established a Community Mental Health
and Mental Retardation Services Board, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 37.1-195, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County and the City
Councils of the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church desire to employ the
talents of the maximum number of citizens as members of said Board,
which are permitted by 37.1-195, Code of Virginia, as amended, and
thereby minimize the burden upon indivicual members of said Board; and
WHEREAS, it appears that distribution of membership among the
participating jurisdictions on the basis of population will result in
a membership of one (1) each from the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church,
and thirteen (13) from the County of Fair. x;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of Fairfax County, Virginia, and by the City Councils of the Cities of
Fairfax and Falls Church, Virginia, that the Fairfax-Falls Church
Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services Board be, and it
hereby is, enlarged to a membership of fifteen (15), to be composed
henceforth of one (1) member from the City of Fairfax, one (1) member from
the City of Falls Church, and thirteen (13) members from the County of
Fairfax, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors of Fairfax County shall appoint four (4) new members to the
Services Board, two (2) for the balance of a term of three years to end on
January 1, 1974, one (1) for the balance of a term of two years to end on
January 1, 1973, and one (1) for the balance of a term of one year to end
January 1, 1972, such members, or their successors, to serve thereafter
for terms of three years.
