WHEREAS, it was deemed advisable that the City pre-
pare long range goals and objectives as a comprehensive frame-
work for future growth and development; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that the maximum citizen
participation possible should be sought in the preparation of
these goals; and
WHEREAS, a resolution establishing the Policy Advisory
Committee as the focal point for the goals study was adopted
by City Council on November 19, 1968; and
WHEREAS, the Policy Advisory Committee was created
pursuant to this resolution and did diligently pursue said goals
study; and
WHEREAS, widespread citizen participation has been
evidenced through the six task forces appointed by the Policy
Advisory Committee, subcommittees thereto, citizen responses to
the goals questionnaire and assistance by many residents in
various other phases of the project; and
WHEREAS, the Policy Advisory Committee has rendered
its formal report to the City Council and made same available
for public distribution;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Fairfax herewith gratefully receives the work of
the Policy Advisory Committee and thanks and commends the com-
mittee, its task forces and all who assisted in the project for
their detailed and time-consuming efforts to recommend this set
of future goals.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in view of the importance
of these recommendations to the future of the community, they
be committed to detailed study and analysis by the City Council
over the ensuing period of time, with a view to their formal
adoption by the City Council with such revisions, if any, as
may be deemed appropriate.
