19691021 r-69-23 RESOLUTION R-69-23 WHEREAS, restaurants permitted to serve customers with mixed alcoholic beverages in the City of Fairfax must presently discontinue sales at 12:00 midnight; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Alcoholic Beverages Control Board permits a later closing hour in jurisdictions where legislative bodies have petitioned for such action; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax has been petitioned by the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Fairfax to request said later closing hour; and WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Fairfax has presented its reasoning therefore; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED 1. That the City Council of the City of Fairfax finds the present limitation places local rest~rants at a competitive disadvantage and places a limitation upon the enjoyment by its citizens of these facilities; 2. That the City Council of the City of Fairfax hereby petitions the Virginia Alcoholic Beverages Control Board under pre- sent enabling legislation to extend closing hours for the sale of mixed drinks in restaurants within the City of Fairfax from 12:00 midnight to 1:00 a. m.; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution and petition be forwarded to the Virginia Alcoholic Beverages Con- trol Board and the City of Fairfax Chamber of Commerce.
