WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia,
has determined that a Community Goals Study is desirable; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to create and. appoint a Policy Ad-
visory Committee to provide strong central coordination for such
study;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Virginia, as follows:
1. There is hereby created a Policy Advisory Committee which
shall consist of nine members appointed by the City Council, one of
whom shall be appointed from the membership of the Planning Commis-
sion. Members originally appointed by the Council shall serve until
they resign or until the Community Goals Study for the City of Fair-
fax, Virginia, has been completed. The term of the Planning Commis-
sion member shall be further limited by his term on the Planning Com-
mission.
2. The Policy Advisory Committee shall organize itself and
shall have the general duty of guiding and coordinating the Community
Goals Study.
3. In furtherance of its general duty, the Policy Advisory
Committee shall:
a. Decide on the method of proceeding on the Community
Goals Study and secure approval from the City Council therefor;
b. Decide what task forces are to be formed in the differ-
ent areas of community concern and to seek approval by the
City Council of such decision;
c. Make selection of personnel for the task forces and co-
ordinate the matching of resource agencies to each task force;
d. Work with task forces in resolving problem areas;
e. Approve final task force reports or such portions of
them as may be warranted, and clear them for publication;
f. Expedite, where necessary, all phases of the Commun-
ity Goals Study in order that it may proceed at the fastest
pace consistent with sound and thorough work; and
g. Prepare a final summary set of findings, goals and
recommendations for presentation to the City Council.
