19671205 r-67-8RESOLUTION R-67-8 BE IT RESOLVED that a Public Traffic Safety Committee be established consisting of eleven Council-appointed members, one of whom shall be from each of the following categories; and the term of office of each shall be limited to his assoc- iation with the category he represents, or two years, whichever is less: A member or officer of the Traffic Court P. T. A. Civic Organization Chamber of Commerce Religious Group Service Club Veterans' Group Automobile Agency Radio Member or Members of the City Council An ex-officio member of the Police Department The general purpose of such Committee shall be (1) to study and analyze the traffic safety record of the City of Fairfax and advise the Council on actions which can be taken to improve this record; (2) to develop and present to the Council an educational program directed toward increasing the public awareness of traffic safety and encourage the habit of safety both with drivers and pedestrians; (3) to take such other actions relating to safety as the Council may direct; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the primary objective of the Public Traffic Safety Committee shall be to provide recommendations to the City Council in pursuit of a comprehensive public safety program and that this Committee shall have no power of law enforce- ment or authority to expend public funds.
