R-66-2
WHEREAS,
on July 25, 1966, JOHN ALBERT SMITH, a resident
of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, gave his life
while saving the life of his drowning friend, and
WHEREAS,
the City of Fairfax, Virginia, wishes to spread the
record of this deed upon its permanent records, that
it may be marked with pride by future generations,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, hereby commends the family of JOHN
ALBERT SMITH for providing a quality of family life
in our community which called forth such devotion to
his fellow man; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Fairfax, Virginia
hereby posthumously commends JOHN ALBERT SMITH for
his act of heroism and, in recognition of his love
for his community and his fellow man and his
influence for good among his contemporaries, hereby
confers upon JOHN ALBERT SMITH honorary citizenship
in the.City of Fairfax, Virginia.
