Resolution of City of Fairfax Funding Commitment for the Northfax
Intersection and Drainage Improvements Project
WHEREAS, the City recently received bids for the construction of the Northfax Intersection
and Drainage Improvements Project VDOT UPC 16632, Project 0029-151-
105; and
WHEREAS, the lowest bid for the work was $23,848,500, which is 55% higher than the
Engineer's Estimate, and leaves the project with a net construction -phase
funding shortfall of approximately $8M; and
WHEREAS, in order for the Virginia Department of Transportation to authorize the award
of the construction contract, the City must demonstrate a commitment to fund
the full cost of the project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia that the City hereby affirms its commitment to fund the full cost of
the Northfax Intersection and Drainage Improvements Project per the
approved plans within the timeframe of the construction contract.
