R-15-35RESOLUTION NO. R-15-35 FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AND DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT FOR FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS, ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING, AND AIR COMPRESSOR WHEREAS the mission of the Fire Department is to save lives, preserve property, protect the environment, and ensure the health, safety, and wellness of themselves and the community; WHEREAS to adequately support this mission the department needs to provide adequate training for identified target hazards in the community and provide training for advanced life support personnel to improve patient care through advanced assessment and interventions skills; WHEREAS the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have awarded the City of Fairfax grant funds in the amount of $97,273 with a local match requirement of 10% or $9,727 in order to assist in training for responses to bulk flammable liquids fires, advanced life support training at the paramedic level, and replacement of an air compressor, contingent upon the governing body's acceptance of those funds, now therefore; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that the City Manager and his designees are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the named applicant, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Virginia, any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining federal financial assistance provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as described above.
