RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE FAIRFAX COUNTY WATER
AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, As of January 2014, the City of Fairfax, Virginia (the City) transferred
Fairfax County Water Authority (the Authority) the ownership and operation of certain
ilities in the City for the storage, transmission and distribution of water; and
WHEREAS, The City owns and operates certain facilities in the City for the
icollection, storage, treatment and transmission of sanitary sewage; and
WHEREAS, The City and the Authority desire to operate a combined system of
billing, collecting and accounting for water service charges imposed by the Authority and for
sewer service charges imposed by the City which results in a more efficient system at a lesser
cost to the customers of the respective water and sewer systems than separate billing systems;
and
WHEREAS, The parties desire to enter into an Agreement to facilitate such combined
system of billing, as more particularly set forth in the "Sewer Billing Agreement";
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign the Sewer Billing
Agreement between the City and the Authority.
