RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE LETTER
CONFIRMING THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
(NVTC) AS THE CITY'S AGENT FOR STATE TRANSIT ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) requires a
letter from the City of Fairfax confirming the Northern Virginia Transportation
Commission (NVTC) as the City's agent for state transit assistance; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to §15.2-4518 of the Code of Virginia, the NVTC has this authority;
and
WHEREAS, the NVTC plays an important role in the region by pooling the state assistance
received by the NVTC on behalf of the City of Fairfax and other NVTC
members and allocates the funds using the Subsidy Allocation Model (SAM)
as provided for by §58.1-638.A.5 of the Code of Virginia; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia that the City Manager hereby authorizes the City Manager to sign the
letter confirming the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC)
as the City's agent for state transit assistance
