RESOLUTION TO REQUEST A TRANSFER OF A SECTION OF PUBLIC ROAD (A
PORTION OF FRONTAGE ROAD ALONG FAIRFAX BOULEVARD BETWEEN
PICKETT ROAD AND FAIRFAX CIRCLE) FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO THE CITY OF FAIRFAX
WHEREAS,the Commonwealth of Virginia acquired certain right-of-way, and constructed
and maintains thereon the section of public road currently known as Fairfax Boulevard (Route
50) frontage road, between Pickett Road and Fairfax Circle as shown on the Plat attached
hereto (the "Section"); and
WHEREAS, it would be advantageous for the City of Fairfax, Virginia(the "City")to
acquire the Section to incorporate the area into planned improvements to City transportation
facilities currently located on and/or planned for the abutting land and improvements; and
WHEREAS, it would also be advantageous for the City to acquire title to the Section,to
improve and maintain such Section as part of the City's planned current and future
transportation system improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pursuant to
Virginia Code Section 33.1-149, hereby requests that the Virginia Department of
Transportation, and the Commonwealth Transportation Board, transfer and convey to the City
of Fairfax Virginia, fee simple title to the Section.
