APPROVAL OF THE DESIGN CONCEPTS FOR THE NORTHFAX (ROUTE
29/50/123) INTERSECTION AND STORM DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 the City Council conducted a public hearing on the
design concepts for the Northfax (Route 29/50/123) Intersection and Storm Drainage
Improvements Project;
WHEREAS, during the public hearing the following categories of comments were discussed:
1. Orchard Street median crossover: desire to maintain the median
opening at this location
2. Pedestrian accommodations: desire to improve accommodations for
pedestrians at intersection
3. Stormwater management: concern about downstream impacts
4. Property impacts: request for information about property acquisition
5. Property access: desire to maintain access at median breaks on Fairfax
Blvd
6. Eaton Place/Route 123 intersection: desire to improve this intersection
7. Other: comments about traffic calming, construction traffic, etc.
WHEREAS, at the July 23, 2013 City Council worksession, the City Council was presented
with revised design concepts for the Northfax (Route 29/50/123) intersection and storm
drainage improvements project.
WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to proceed with the project with the revised
design concepts that are responsive to the public comments received during the public hearing
and via written comments after the public hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, hereby approves the revised design concepts for the Northfax (Route 29/50/123)
Intersection and Storm Drainage Improvement Project that are responsive to the comments
received during the April 23, 2013 public hearing.
