DESIGNATION OF FY 2013- 2014 REVENUE SHARING PROGRAM FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax desires to submit an application for an
allocation of funds of up to $1,960,040 through the Virginia Department of Transportation
(VDOT) FY 2013-2014 Revenue Sharing Program; and,
WHEREAS, $1,960,040 of these funds is requested to fund the following projects:
1. Construction of the George T. Snyder Trail—A proffer of$65,000 from the
developer will be used as a match for a total project estimate of$130,000.
2. Reconstruction of Fairfax Boulevard (Route 50) from Draper Drive to Fairfax
Circle—The total estimated cost is $1,057,000 and the required match of$528,500
is assumed to be approved by the City Council in the FY2014 CIP.
3. Reconstruction of Fairfax Boulevard (Route 50) from Fairchester Drive to Kamp
Washington—The total estimated cost is $829,000 and the required match of
$414,500 is assumed to be approved by City Council in the FY2014 CIP.
4. Upgrade the Storm Drainage Infrastructure at the Intersection of Fairfax Boulevard
(Route 50) and Oak Street—The estimated total cost is $1,300,000 and the
required match is assumed to be approved by City Council in the FY 2014 CIP.
5. Repaving of Jermantown Road, Pickett Road, and University Drive. Attached list
shows the limits of repaving - The total estimated cost is $444,080 and the
required match of$222,040 is assumed to be approved by City Council in the FY
2014 CIP.
6. Purchase and Replace Old Traffic Controller Cabinets - The total estimated cost is
$160,000 and the required match of$80,000 is in the approved FY 2013 CIP.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fairfax
hereby supports this application for an allocation of$1,960,000 through the Virginia
Department of Transportation Revenue Sharing Program;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax hereby grants
authority for the City Manager to execute project administration agreements for any approved
revenue sharing projects.
