R-12-48 RESOLUTION NO. R-12-48 DECLARATION OF A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY June 30,2012 WHEREAS, on June 29, 2012 a Severe Thunderstorm occurred in the City of Fairfax, and WHEREAS,the storm created extensive power outages, debris and loss of primary services and; WHEREAS, this situation creates a considerable hardship for the citizens of the City of Fairfax; and WHEREAS, local government has the responsibility to protect the public health, safety and welfare, and to mitigate the effects of such events. NOW, THEREFORE, I, R. Scott Silverthorne, by the authority vested in me by Chapter 33 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, do hereby declare that a local State of Emergency exists in the City of Fairfax for the period June 30, 2012 to July13, 2012, and direct that: 1. The Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, as approved by City Council, shall be fully executed to direct all local disaster and emergency response forces and operations in the City of Fairfax; 2. The Coordinator of Emergency Management under authorities provided under the City of Fairfax Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, and local orders or ordinances, shall take immediate actions to protect public safety and direct the provision of such assistance as to be delivered from available local resources and shall coordinate the response of all local agencies that provide assistance in the City of Fairfax; 3.
