2011 Competitive Emergency Management Performance Grant
WHEREAS the mission of the Office of Emergency Management is to prepare the
community for disaster events, and;
WHEREAS to adequately support this mission city staff must maintain awareness of
significant events occurring locally and throughout the region, and;
WHEREAS the Virginia Department of Emergency Management has awarded the City of
Fairfax grant funds in the amount of $21,080.96 in order to purchase hardware and software
to maintain situational awareness, contingent upon the governing body's acceptance of those
funds, now therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that the City
Manager and his designees are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the named
applicant, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Virginia, any actions
necessary for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance provided by the Virginia
Department of Emergency Management.
