R-11-46 RESOLUTION NO. R -11 -46 2011 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE SUBGRANT WHEREAS the mission of the Office of Emergency Management is to prepare the community for disaster events, and; z° WHEREAS to adequately support this mission the community must be educated on measures they need to take to protect themselves and their families, and; WHEREAS Citizen Corps serves as an important asset to assist in the City's capability to respond to and recover from the impact of emergency incidents, and: WHEREAS the Department of Homeland Security has awarded the City of Fairfax grant funds in the amount of $6,917 in order to assist in developing a program to educate the public on the need for disaster preparedness and to encourage volunteer participation in the Citizen Corps program, contingent upon the governing body's acceptance of those funds, now therefore; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that the City Manager and his designees are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the named applicant, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Virginia, any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining federal financial assistance provided by the Department of Homeland Security.
