APPROVAL OF THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR THE CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD
(ROUTE 123) BRIDGE REPLACEMENT OVER THE ACCOTINK CREEK
PROJECT
WHEREAS, at the June 14, 2011 City Council meeting, the City Council was
presented with revised design concepts for the Chain Bridge Road Bridge
Replacement over the Accotink Creek Project and the City Council directed staff to
proceed with the project with the revised design concepts per comments received
during the public outreach meetings, and comments received from the public and the
City Council at the May 24, 2011 public hearing;
WHEREAS, due to the revised concepts, additional costs are needed for the
engineering, design, construction, and construction management of the narrower
bridge and the pedestrian bridge;
WHEREAS, now that the new design concepts have been approved, a more accurate
cost estimate of the project can be made;
NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, hereby approves the transfer of a total of $2.2 million to the Chain Bridge
Road Bridge Replacement over the Accotink Creek Project, and $605,026 should come from
excess funds from the George Mason Boulevard project UPC #76995 and $1.6 million should
come from the Urban funds previously allocated to the Northfax Storm Drainage and
Intersection Improvements project UPC #16632.
