A RESOLUTION APPOINTING R. SCOTT SILVERTHORNE, TO FILL THE
VACANCY ON CITY COUNCIL RESULTING FROM THE RESIGNATION OF
COUNCILMEMBER JOAN W. CROSS
WHEREAS, Councilmember Joan W. Cross, by letter dated June 27, 2011, has
tendered her resignation from the City Council effective June 30, 2011, which results in a
vacancy existing on the City Council as of July 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Title 24.2 of the Code of Virginia provides that in the event of a vacancy
on the City Council, a majority of the remaining members of the City Council may appoint an
otherwise qualified individual to serve until the required election has been conducted to
formally fill the vacancy, and the individual so elected has duly qualified and taken office as
required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, that R. Scott Silverthorne is hereby appointed to fill the vacancy resulting from the
resignation of Councilmember Joan W. Cross.
