R-10-21RESOLUTION NO. R-10-21 WHEREAS citizen preparedness is important to the City's ability to respond effectively in times of emergency, and; WHEREAS planning and training for the City's CERT and VIPS volunteers and public outreach to our citizens to encourage them to prepare personal disaster plans and build disaster supply kits are important elements in the City's Emergency Operations Plan, and; WHEREAS the State of Virginia has awarded the City of Fairfax grant funds in the amount of $15,000 in order to assist in the accomplishment of the above objectives, contingent upon the governing body's acceptance of those funds; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that the City Manager or his designees are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of Fairfax, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Virginia, any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining federal financial assistance provided by the federal Department of Homeland Security and sub-granted through the State of Virginia as described above.
