COMMUNITY GARDEN RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES POLICY
WHEREAS, the City has sought input from residents on the implementation of a community
garden as part of a "Get Fit City of Fairfax" initiative; and
WHEREAS, the City received donations and in-kind services to construct two community
gardens, located on the City Hall campus, 10455 Armstrong Street and Kutner Park, 3901
Jermantown Road; and
WHEREAS, these community gardens will promote healthy eating, encourage self reliance,
preserve green space, increase social interaction for city residents; and
WHEREAS, these community gardens will help educate children and adults to the benefits of
organically grown fruits and vegetables while providing space for those that do not have their
own personal property to garden.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the attached Community Garden Rules and
Responsibilities establishes policy and guidelines for use of community gardens effective
immediately;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the administration of the policy will be directed by the
City of Fairfax Department of Parks and Recreation.
