R-09-36RESOLUTION NO. R-09-36 LEGACY FOR FAIRFAX PROGRAM POLICY WHEREAS, the City continues to seek alternative methods of funding purchases of equipment and supplies, operations of facilities and services, maintenance and staffing of its facilities, parks and services; and WHEREAS, the City received a donation in December of 2007 from Mrs. Stacy C. Sherwood to fund the design and construction of a new community center within the City; and WHEREAS, the agreement with Mrs. Stacy C. Sherwood states that interior portions of the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center may be named for other donors as determined by the City; and WHEREAS, other opportunities exist in the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center and the park system for donations and naming of spaces and equipment; and WHEREAS, donations for the naming of spaces and purchase of equipment will provide a unique and memorable way to recognize a donor, a loved one and leave a legacy while contributing to the enhancement of our community; and WHEREAS, the donations will be used to fund the purchase of equipment for use in the space, the purchase of a specific item designated by the donation, maintenance of the space, equipment or item, recognition of the donor, and for other purposes to be determined; and WHEREAS, the donation amounts may be established by the City based on purchase costs, maintenance, use, and eventual replacement of the space and equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the attached Legacy for Fairfax Program is hereby endorsed and adopted by the City Council, and the attached policy and guidelines are to be implemented effective immediately; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the administration of the policy will be directed by the City of Fairfax Department of Parks and Recreation.
