A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING FAIRFAX COUNTY AS THE COlVIlVIUNITY
ACTION AGENCY FOR THE CITY OF FAIRFAX
VVHEREAS. the Code of Virginia. Chapter 2.2-5400. kno""n as the Community
.Action Act" establishes the povver and duties of a Community Action Agency; and
"V\TI-IEREAS" the local subdivision oft:he Commonvvealth recommends the designation
of a community action agen.cy" by resolution or the local goveming body". be fo:rvo.rarded to the
Virginia Department of Social Services to develop the organizational and funding plan to be
fc>~arded to the Secretary of Health and Human.. R.esources for recommendation to the
G-ovemor for action; and
"'HEREAS, since 1978". Fairfax County has been the provider or social services to
residents of the City of Fairfax under a contractual agreement; and
"V\THEREAS". Fairfax County has previously and consistently incorporated the City of
Fairfax in. its community based collaborative revievv and grar1t application through "",hich
funding under the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is allocated; and
NOVV, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED. that the lVIayor and City Council do
hereby designate Fairfax County as the Community Action Agency serving residents of the
City of Fairfax.
