TASKING THE CITY A TTORl"fEY
VVHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax is attempting to obtain the most
efficient use of legal services provided by the City Attomey; and
"VVHER...E.AS, legal costs are directly related to type ar1d volume of requests.
NOVV. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. R.equests for legal services, other than routine or explar1atory information, by a City
Council member or members shall be coordinated through the City l'v'Ianager_ On
matters of an individual nature, such as possible conflict of interest or other similar
matters", City Council members may contact: the City Attomey directly.
2_ Legal services for boards, commission ar1d committees, other than routine legal and
explanatory services, shall be discussed by an.. authorized representative (normally the
chair or starr representative) or the board, commission or committee V\l"ith the City
l\I1anager prior to requesting legal assistance. Further, the City J\..1::anager shall maintain
a brier record or the requests and shall keep the City Council information of such
requests.
