BUDGET PROCESS
V\THEREAS, the City or Fairrax currently has a favorable balance betv..reen residential
and commercial sources of revenues; and
V\THEREAS, the City Council vvishes to insure that this balance is maintained; and
VVHEREAS,. in order 1:0 achieve the above", the City Council needs to exercise careful
deliberations throughout the budget process;
NOV\T. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The J\I1:ayor and City Council shall develop ger:1eral guidelines ror the budget and
provide them to the City lVIa.nager by October 31; and
2. The Capital Improvements Program shall be considered by the City Council prior to
its consideration orthe annual budget; a.I1d
3. VVhere appropriate, revenues related to expenditures shall be reflected in the proposed
budget documents; and
4. The :M:ayor and City Council shall meet ,-","ith selected boards and commissions. in ,-","ork
sessions as part of the budget deliberations to revie,-"," budget items conceming areas of
interest to the boards and commission; and
5. The J\..1:ayor and City Council shall conduct a mid-point revievv- of the implementation
of the budget; and
6. The City Council shall adopt the budget for the coming fiscal year at the first regular
meeting in April of each year.
