ADOPTION OF TFJ:E NO~TFJ:E~ VI~GINIA ~EGIONAL FJ:AZA~ lVIITIGATION
PLAN
VVFJ:EREAS. the Federal Disaster lVlitigation Act of 2000 (DlVlA2K) has prescribed that any
local govemmen't applying for federal mitigation grant funds must have an adopted hazard
mitigation plan,. and;
VVI-IE.R..EAS,. the Virginia Department of Emergency J\I1anagement funded the development OT
the Northem Virginia Regioual Hazard :M:itigation Plan" and;
VVIIEREAS" this plan has been conditionally approved by both the Virginia Department of
Emergency lV1anagement and the Federal Emergency l\t1:anagement Agency, and;
V\TI-:IEREAS" this plan vv-ill al1oV\T access to federal grant funds from the Hazard lV1itigatioll
Grant Program (HlVlGP), the Pre-Disaster lVlitigation (PDlVl) program and the Flood
:rv1:itigation Assistance (Fl\t1:A) program_
NOVV. TFJ:EREFORE. IT IS FJ:EREB~ RESOLVED that the Northem Virginia Hazard
J\I1itigatioll Plan is adopted and shall become effective on the date of this signing and it shall
remain in full force and effect until amended~ revised~ or rescinded.
