AN ORDINANCE AJV1ENDING ART1CLE VI, CFIAPTER
90, SECTION 90-262 OF THE CODE OF TFIE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERTAINING TO TFIE LEVY
AND AJV10UNT OF TAX ON IVIEALS SOLD BY
REST AURANTS.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Article VI. Chapter 90.
Section 90-262 of the Code or the City of Fairfax" Virginia" is hereby amended to read in its
entirety as follovvs:
ARTICLE VI. TAX ON JV1EALS SOLD BY RESTAURANTS.
Sec. 90-262.
Levy and amoun"t oC "tax.
There is hereby imposed and levied by the city, in addition to all other taxes, fees and charges
of every kin.d noVV" or hereafter imposed by la"\.."V" a tax upon each and every meal sold in the
city in or from a restauran.t:,. v.rhether prepared in the restaurant or not and -vvhether consumed
on the premises or not, based upon the amoun.t VY"hich the purchaser is charged by the seller
ror the ll"1eaL. at the rate of Tour percent or the total charge, $0_005 shall be treated as $0.01_
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance shall become effective on July 1,.
2007.
