A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. R-04-29 TO RENAME ROUTE 50 TO
FAIRFAX BOULEVARD TO BE EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2005
WHEREAS, Chapter 82, Article II, Section 82-38 of the Code of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia permits the City Council to change street names; and
WHEREAS, the Lee Highway Task Force has requested that City Council
consider renaming Route 50 to Fairfax Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the Lee Highway Task Force has recommended naming the
business improvement district the Fairfax Boulevard Business Improvement district; and
WHEREAS, the name Fairfax Boulevard will be a powerful marketing tool
for the Business Improvement District, and
WHEREAS, Fairfax Boulevard was thought to be a good name for the street
by those business and property owners who attended the public presentations given by the Lee
Highway Task Force, and
WHEREAS, renaming Route 50 to Fairfax Boulevard will make it easier for
customers to identify where a business is in the Corridor,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia on this 1 lth day of January, 2005, that Route 50 shall be renamed to
Fairfax Boulevard effective July 1 st, 2005.
