20050322 R-05-13RESOLUTION R-05-13 RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A TASK FORCE ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE CITY OF FAIRFAX. WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is committed to enhancing the quality of life for children and families; and WHEREAS, it is essential that the City of Fairfax stay competitive in attracting the next generation of families; and, WHEREAS, building upon the existing network of programs in the City of Fairfax that serve children and families offers an effective platform for identifying unmet needs and a vehicle for expanding or improving existing programs; and WHEREAS, a concerned group of citizens has proposed an initiative to focus on said issues; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council commend the spirit and resolve of this group of citizens who are committed to improving government services, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fairfax this 22nd day of March, 2005 establishes a one-year task force on Children and Families. The Task Force will identify needs, raise awareness, and recommend the development of programs for all families in the City. The Task Force will consist of the following individuals and/or groups: Jennifer Robinson (Chair); Janice Murray (Vice-Chair); a representative from PRAB, a PTA representative from Daniels Run and Providence Elementary Schools; and additional members of the community appointed by the task force, not to exceed twelve people. The Task Force will provide the City Council with at least quarterly updates on recommendations during the one-year study period. ATTEST: The motion to adopt the resolution was approved 6-0.
