AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 98, SECTION 98-20 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY AMENDING THE CITATION TO
PART 49 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, that Article I, Chapter 98,
Section 98-20 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, is hereby amended to read in its
entirety as follows:
Sec. 98-20. Placarded trucks on Route 236.
(a)
All trucks placarded or required to be placarded according to the regulations set forth in
49 CFR 172-500 et seq., are prohibited on Route 236 (main Street and North Street) from
Lee Highway (Route 29) to Pickett Road. This prohibition shall not apply to trucks
placarded or required to be placarded that are receiving or making deliveries on Route
236 (Main Street and North Street) or streets accessible only from Route 236 (Main Street
and North Street).
(b) Any owner or operator of a truck in violation of this section shall be guilty of a class 4
misdemeanor.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance shall become effective on adoption as
provided by law.
