ORDINANCE NO. 2001-__
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 30,
SECTION 30-31 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERTAINING TO BOUNDARIES OF
VOTER ELECTION PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, that Article II, Chapter
30, Section 30-31 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, is hereby amended to read in its
entirety as follows:
ARTICLE II. PRECINCTS
DIVISION 1. GENERALLY
Section 30-31.
Boundaries of voter election precincts; polling places.
The boundaries for the voter election precincts in the city and the locations of the polling
places shall be as follows:
Precinct one. Beginning at a point marking the southern bounda.ry of the City of Fairfax
on Chain Bridge'Road (l~.oute 123) at a ml~lpoint in the road, going north along Route
123 to the intersection with Main Street (Route 236) at a midpoint in the road; following
west on Main Street to the intersection of Main Street with Lee Highway (Route 29) an~t
proceeding west on Route 29 to the western boundary of the City, and Following the
western boundary of the City until it tums east, becoming the southern boundary of the
City and intersecting with Route 123, Chain Bridge RoaSt, at a midpoint in the road. The
polling place is located at Fairfax Presbyterian CHurch, 10723 Main Street.

Precinct two. Beginning at a point marking the intersection of Main Street _(Route 236)
and Old Lee Higl:iway at a midpoint in the road, following a northeasterly direction along
Old Lee Highway until it intersects with Rebel Run at a midpoint in the road: following
Rebel Run until it intersects with Lee Highway (Routes 29 and 50) at a midpoint in the
road; following Lee Highway in a westerly direction until it intersects with Main Street in
the vicinity of Kamp Washington; then proceeding in a southeasterly direction on Main
Street until it intersects with Old Lee Highway at a midpoint in the road. The polling
place is located at John C. Wood Center, 3730Old Lee-Highway.
Precinct three. Beginning at a point marking the intersection of Main Street (Route 236),
at a midpoint in the road; following east on Main Street to its intersection with the City's
eastern border immediately east of Pickett Road, then following the City's eastern border
northward, to its intersection with Old Pickett Road, at a midpoint in the road; following
Old Pickett Road to the intersect of Old Lee Highway at a midpoint in the road,
continuing southwestward along Old Lee Highway to its intersection with Main Street
(Route 236) at a midpoint in the road. The polling place is located at Daniels Run
Elementary School, 3705 Old Lee Highway.
Precinct four. Beginning at a midpoint in the road at the intersection of Chain Bridge
Road (Route 123), and Main Street (Route 236); following Chain Bridge Road south to
the City's southern border, at the intersect of the City's border turning east and following
the Citv's southern border to its intersection with Whitacre Road, .at a .midpoint in the
road; following north along Whit~cre Road to its intersection, with Main~. Stree, t, at .a
midpoint in the road, then proceeding west on Main Street to the intersection or tvtaln
Street with Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) at a midpoint in the road. The polling place is
located at City Hall, 10455 Armstrong Street.
Precinct five Bezinnin~ at a point marking the eastern boundary of the City at the
intersect ~of ~)ld lXickett~Road, at a midpoint in the road; following the City's eastern
boundary north until it intersects with the northern boundary of the City; following the
northern boundary west until it intersects with Chain Briage Road (Route 123), at a
midpoint in the road; following south along Chain Bridge Road, until it intersects with
Lee Highway, (Routes 50 and 29) at a midpoint in the road; following east along Lee
Highway to its intersection with Rebel Run, following Rebel Run to its intersection with
Old Lee Highway, at a midpoint in the road, to the intersect with Old Pickett Road, at a
midpoint in the road; following east along Old Pickett Road to the intersect of the eastern
boundary of the City. The polling place is located at Fairfax High School, 3500 Old Lee
Highway. The polling place is located within 300 yards of the precinct line.
Precinct six. Beginning at a point marking the midpoint in the road at the intersect of Lee
Highway (Routes 50 and 29) with Chain Bridge Road (Route 123); following north along
Chain Bridge Road to the northern boundary of the, City, then following the City line in a
westerly direction to the intersection of the City s northern boundary with its western

the road. The polling place is located at Christ Lutheran Church, 3810 Meredith Dn e.
Central Absentee Precinct. As prescribed by Section 24.2-712, Code of Virginia, and City
Ordinance 1980-17, 10-14-80, the Central Absentee Precinct shall be located at City Hall
Annex, 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance shall become effective on
adoption.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
