19970408 1997-5ORDINANCE NO. 1997-5 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-9.1, ARTICLE III, CHAPTER 8, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, CONCERNING THE TAX FOR ENHANCED EMERGENCY TELEPHONE (E-911) SERVICE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 8-9.1, Article III, Chapter 8, of the Code of the City of Fairfax is amended to read in its entirety as follows: Section 8-9.1 service Amount of tax for enhanced emergency telephone In addition to the tax imposed and levied under Section 8-9 of this article, there is hereby imposed and levied by the city upon each and every purchaser._pf__~?.~__telephone service a .......................... tax in the amount of ~ ~~~ cents ~ iii~ii~i~ii~iii~i~i~i!i per telephone line per month~ ................ ~'~'~'""~'"shall be paid by t~6'"'~haser to the seller of local telephone service for the use of the city to pay the initial capital, installation, and maintenance costs of its E-911 system. Such tax shall not be imposed on federal, state and local government agencies. This ordinance shall become effective on July 1, 1997.
