19960227 1996-2ORDINANCE NO. 1996-2 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE I, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION 8-3.1 CONCERNING RECOVERY OF ATTORNEY'S FEES AND COLLECTION AGENCY FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT TAXES. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Chapter 8, Article I, of the Code of the City of Fairfax, is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 8.3-13 to read in its entirety as follows: Section 8-3.13 Attorney's fees and collection agency fees. Reasonable attorney's fees or collection agency fees associated with the collection of delinquent taxes, not to exceed twenty percent (20%) of the delinquent tax bill, are hereby imposed upon each delinquent taxpayer as part of the tax bill. Attorney's fees shall be added to the tax bill only if the delinquent taxes are collected by an action at law or a suit in equity. This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
