AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-2, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER
24, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY
INCREASING THE RATES FOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICE FOR
RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS AND AMENDING
SECTION 24-2.3 (a), ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 24, OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY INCREASING THE
RATES FOR INITIATION OF WATER SERVICE AND BY INCREASING
THE RATES FOR RESTORATION OF WATER SERVICE AFTER
TERMINATION THEREOF.
1. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 24-2 of Article I, Chapter 24,.of
the Code of the City of Fairfax, is hereby amended to read in Its
entirety as follows:
Section 24-2. Water service and sewer service--Service rates.
(a) The rates for water service furnished by the city shall
be as follows:
(1) Residential customers: "---- ~-~ ............ --~ ~
four cents ($?.?4) Eight dollars and ninety cents
($8.90) for the first five thousand (5,000) gallons or
less per quarter and "~" ~-~ .... ~ f--t .... ~ ..... ~~
~ one dollar and seventy cents ($1.70) per
thousand (1,000) gallons for all water in excess of
five thousand (5,000) gallons.
(2) Commercial consumers: Nina dollars and ten c~nts
($9.1~) Ten dollars and forty-seven cents ($10.47) for
the first five thousand (5,000) gallons or less per
dollar and seventy cents ($1.70). per thousand (1,000)
for all in excess of five thousand (5,000) gallons·
(b) The rates for sewer service furnished by the city '~ill

(128) percent of the computer water service rate; provided,
howeVer, that apartment buildings will be billed at a minimum

dollars and twenty cents ($9.20) per dwelling unit per month.
2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia that Section 24-2.3, Subsection (a) of
Chapter 24, Article I, is amended to read as follows:
Section 24-2.3.
Same--Miscellaneous charges and deposits.
(a) Water service charge. A service charge of

advance by or on behalf of each customer prior to the initiation
of water service. A service charge of twenty fiva dollars

3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the remaining subsections
of the sections hereby amended shall continue to read as
previously enacted.
