AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, BY ENACTING A NEW SECTION 19-1 CONCERNING
SCHOOL BOARD COMPOSITION, ELECTION AND TERMS OF MEMBERS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, that Chapter 19 of the Code of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, is hereby amended by enacting a new Section 19-1 to read
in its entirety as follows:
Sec. 19-1.
School Board - Composition, election and term of
members.
(a) The school board shall consist of five (5) qualified
voters of the city elected by popular vote at large.
(b) The election of members of the school board shall be held
to coincide with the election of the members of the city council
and mayor. The term of the members of the school board shall be
the same as the terms of the members of the city council and mayor.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
