AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-27, ARTICLE VI,
CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA,
BY REPEALING SUBSECTION (b) THEREOF CONCERNING THE
MEMBERSHIP OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, that Section 2-27, Article VI, Chapter 2 of the
Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, is hereby amended
by repealing subsection (b) thereof and redesignating the
remaining subsections as follows:

The planning commission shall be composed of seven (7)
members, appointed by the city council, all of whom shall
be residents of the city. At least one-half (1/2) of the
members so appointed shall be owners of real property and
shall be qualified by knowledge and experience to make
decisions on questions of community growth and development.
Members serving on the planning commission shall serve for

te~s of me~ers shall be staggered so that, in the first
year of a four-year period, one meter's te~ will e~ire,
and, in each of the other three (3) years, the te~s of two
(2) other me, ers will expire· In order to implement the
staggering of te~s as described herein, appointments may
be made for te~s of less than four (4) years.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the remaining subsections of
Section 2-27 shall continue to read as previously enacted.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
