19920728 1992-24ORDINANCE NO. 1992- 24 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTIONS 10-4(a) and 10-7(b), CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, CONCERNING MANDATORY SEPARATION OF GRASS CLIPPINGS FROM ITS RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS AND SPECIAL COLLECTION THEREOF BY THE CITY 1. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that Subsection 10-4(a), Chapter 10 of the Code of the City of Fairfax is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: (a) The following materials will be collected on regular collection schedules: Garbage, kitchen waste, cold ashes, paper, non-recyclable glass, plastic, dirt and any other refuse accumulated as a result of normal household activities or yard work, provided, however, that the recycl- able materials described in (b) shall be collected by separate pickup on regular collection schedules, the recyclable materials described in (c) shall be only collected once a week by special pickup arrangement, and the brush, herbaceous waste, and other materials described in (d) and (e) shall be collected by special pickup arrangements. Such refuse shall be placed in approved containers or in neat and compact bundles or boxes in such a manner to permit handling by one person, and which do not exceed sixty (60) pounds in weight when full. Large single items, such as furniture, placed at the curb, shall also be collected on regular collection schedules. 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that Subsection 10-7(b), Chapter 10 of the Code of the City of Fairfax is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: (b) The City Manager or his designee shall promul- gate pickup schedules for grass clippings, leaves, Christmas trees and other special collections.
