19890124 1989-2ORDINANCE NO. 1989-2 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4-10 OF ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 4, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, CONCERNING DOG LICENSES. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 4-10, Article II, Chapter 4 of the Code of the City of Fairfax is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: Sec. 4-10. Licenses 9enerall~. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to own a dog s~-~6~ four (4) months old or older in this city unless such dog is licensed, as required by the provisions of this chapter. Any dog not wearing a collar bearing a license tag of the proper calendar year shall prima facie be deemed to be an unlicenses dog and in any proceedings under this chapter the burden of proof of the fact that the dog has been licensed shall be on the owner of the dog. No license tag shall be issued for any dog unless there is pre- sented to the city treasurer at the time application is made for such license, the certificate of rabies vaccination required by section 4-12. (b) There is hereby provided and levied an annual license tax of three dollars ($3.00) upon any dog within the city ~-(6~ four (4) months or older. (c) Upon application and payment of such license tax to the city treasurer, the city treasurer shall issue a dog license tag, which tag shall bear an assigned number and the current license year.
