AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 8-3.2, ARTICLE
I, CHAPTER 8 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA REGARDING CREDIT CARD
PAYMENTS OF TAXES AND FEES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia that Section 8-3.2 is added to the Code of
the City of Fairfax, Virginia to read in its entirety as
follows:
Sec. 8-3.2. Payments by Credit Card
The Treasurer is authorized to accept payment of local
taxes pursuant to this Chapter, and recreation department fees
only, by use of a credit card. Upon the acceptance of a
credit card for payment of local taxes, the Treasurer shall,
in addition to any penalties and interest which may be
assessed upon such taxes, add to the payment a sum not to
exceed four percent of the amount of tax, penalty and interest
paid, as a service charge for the acceptance of such credit
card for payment. The service charge assessed shall equal the
amount charged to the City.
This ordinance shall become effective upon execution by
the Mayor.
