AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-7 OF THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERTAINING TO THE
COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS
OF THE PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Virginia, that Section 15-7 of the Code of the City
of Fairfax, Virginia, be and hereby is amended to read in
its entirety as follows:

entirety as follows:
The park and recreation advisory board shall consist of
thirteen (~3) members selected as nearly as possible from
the various groups within the city having an interest in
park and recreation facilities and programs.
Ten (~0) members of the advisory board shall be appointed by
the city council, of which one (1) e~-w~m shall be a member
of the city councilL &~ one (~) a member of the planning
commission~ and one a member of the northern virginia
regional park authority. The eleventh member shall be a
member of the commission on the arts who is designated by
the commission on the arts. The twelfth member shall be a
member of the city school board who is designated by the
school board. The thirteent__h member shall be a nonvoting,
advisory, student representative from Fairfax High School %~
a~ ~ a ~e~e~ a~e~-e&p&e~y~ ~ who shall be
chosen by the Fairfax High School student body. The member
of the from city council shall serve as an ex officio member
whose term shall coincide with the term on such council and
who shall not be counted to establish a quorum, &~ shall
not have the right to vote, em and shall not be permitted to
hold any office on the park and recreation advisory board.

Members of the board shall serve at the pleasure of the city
council or for three (3) years, whichever is shorter.
This ordinance is effective immediately upon its
adoption.
