19860422 1986-20ORDINANCE NO. 1986-20 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTIONS 24-2.1 AND 24-2.2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PROVIDING FOR AMENDING AND REENACTING THE CONNECTION FEES, AVAILABILITY AND FRONTAGE CHARGES. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Fairfax, virginia, that Sections 24-2.1 and 24-2.2, the water and sewer connection fees, availability and frontage charges, of the Code of the City of Fairfax, virginia, be, and they hereby are, amend- ed as follows: 1) Section 24-2.1 is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: "Sec. 24-2.1 Same-Water Connection Fees, Availability and Frontage Charges. Water connection fees and availability and frontage charge are hereby established as follows: (a) Connection Charge Meter Size Rate 3/4 X 5/8" $ 300 1" $ 480 1 1/2" $ 720 2" Compound $1,200 3" Compound $1,830 4" Compound $2,950 6" Compound $4,550 (b) Availability Charge Type of Premises Measure Amount (1) Single family dwellings, whether detached, semi- detached, duplex or townhouse Dwelling unit $700.00 per unit (2) Apartments and Condominium apart- ments Dwelling unit $700.00 per unit (3) Hotels, motels and rooming houses Occupancy unit and floor area $525.00 per occupancy unit, plus the greater of $700.00 minimum or $0.20 per square foot of the gross floor area of the building(s) minus the total gross floor area of the occupancy units and any corri- dors or hallways the sole function of which is to provide access to occupancy units. (4) Office and Gross Commercial floor area $700.00 minimum or $0.20 per square foot whichever is greater. (5) Industrial use Gross floor area $700.00 minimum or $0.33 per square foot whichever is greater. The City Manager or his designee shall determine the applicable type and the availabilty charge for each premise. The ~availability charge for any premise which does not fall within 1986-20 one of the types listed above shall be calculated at the rate of twenty cents per square foot or a $700.00 minimum whichever results in the higher charge. Multi-use premises shall be charged based on the various types of use or on the principal use whichever results in the higher charge. Unless otherwise stated, the type of premises and units of measurement shall be as defined in Chapter 26 of this Code. "Occupancy unit" means any room or suite of rooms typically rent- ed as a unit containing overnight sleeping accomodations which ~are separate from any other such room or suite of rooms within the same hotel, motel or rooming house.
