AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF FIRE
INSPECTOR/INVESTIGATOR.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia that Chapter 9 of the Code of the City of Fairfax,
Virginia, be amended as follows:
Add a new Section 9-2 to read in its entirety as
follows:
"SECTION 9-2. Fire Inspector/Investigator.
The office of the fire inspector/investigator is
hereby created. The city council may, upon recommenda-
tion of the city manager, appoint one or more fire
inspectors/investigators to act as assistants to the
city fire marshal. In the absence of the city fire
marshal, a fire inspector/investigator shall have the
powers and perform the duties of the city fire
marshal."
2. Amend Section 9-3 to read in its entirety as follows:
"SECTION 9-3. Oath of Office.
Before entering upon their duties, the city fire
marshal and every authorized fire inspector/investiga-
tor shall each take an oath, before any officer author-
ized to administer oaths, to faithfully discharge the
duties of their respective offices."
