AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-7 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERTAINING
TO THE PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that
Section 15-7 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, be and hereby is amended
as follows:
The first paragraph of Section 15-7 is amended to reas as follows: "The park
and recreation advisory board shall consist of twelve members selected as nearly as
possible from the various groups within the city having an interest in park and rec-
reation facilities and programs. Eleven members of the advisory board shall be
appointed by the city council, one of whom shall be a member of the city council and
one a member of the planning commission. The twelfth member shall be a member
of the city school board who is designated by the school board. The member from
the city council, the member from the planning commission and the member from
the school board shall be ex officio members whose terms shall coincide with their
terms on the body from which they have been chosen and shall not be counted to
establish a quorum, have the right to vote, or be permitted to hold any office on the
park and recreation advisory board. Members of the board shall serve at the pleasure
of the city council or for three years, whichever is shorter."
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its execution by the
Mayor.
