19820810 1982-26 ORDINANCE NO. 1982-26 AN ORDINANCE ENACTING SUBSECTION 13-13(e) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA SETTING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT ON ROUTE 237 WI THIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA. WHEREAS, the City has performed or has caused to be performed an engineering and traffic investigation of Route 237 within the boundaries of the City; and WHEREAS, the study indicates that the current speed limit of 35 miles per hour on Route 237 from Fairfax Circle to the intersection of Route 237 and Layton Hall Drive should be reduced; and WHEREAS, the speed limit for the r~nainder of Route 237 within the boundaries of the City is 30 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the aforesaid investigation, the City council has determined that the speed limit on the entire length of Route 237 within the boundaries of the City should be 30 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, the City council deems that an emergency exists to protect public safety. BE IT ORDAINED by the City council for the City of Fairfax, virginia that subsection 13-13(e) is hereby enacted to read in its entirety as follows: "(e) The maximum speed limit on Route 237 within the boundaries of the city shall be 30 miles per hour."
