19810519 1981-6ORDINANCE NO. 1981-6 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, PERMITTING EMPLOYMENT BY PRIVATE EMPLOYERS OF OFF-DUTY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Chapter 18 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, be and it hereby is amended to add a new Section 18-6 to read in its entirety as follows: "Sec. 18-6 Emplgyment of Off-Duty Law Enforcement Officers (a) City Law-Enforcement Officers are authorized to engage in off- duty employment by private employers which may occasionally require the use of their police powers in the performance of such employment provided that such off-duty employment shall conform with and not violate the reasonable rules and regulations promulgated by the Chief of Police )ursuant to subsection (b) herein. (b) The Chief of Police shall promulgate reasonable rules and regulations, which shall include, among other things, the following: (1) Tile number of hours per week an officer is permitted to engage in off-duty employment; and (2) The maximum number of hours an officer is permitted to work during any off-duty period; and (3) The designation of the types of employment which are prohibited because they are dangerous, and/or unduly tiresome and/or would otherwise be detrimental to the performance of an officer's duties with the City; and (4) The designation of the types of employment which are prohibited because of conflicts with an officer's duties with the City."
