19811124 1981-25 ORDINANCE NO. 1981-25 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VII OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA TO RENAF~ THE HIGHWAY SAFETY COMMISSION AND INCREASE ITS MEMBERSHIP TO TEN BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, that Article VII of Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, be and the same is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: "Article VII. Transportation Safety Commission. Sec. 2-35. Created; number, appointment and terms of office of members. There is hereby created a transportation safety commission for the city to consist of ten members appointed by the city council. The transportation safety commission shall be composed as follows: Five members from the general public, one member of the city council, one member of the city police department, one member designated by the school board, one member of the city public works department, and one member designated by the Fairfax City Chamber of Co~m-nerce. Such members shall serve terms of office of two years each. Members of the general public shall be residents of the City. Sec. 2-36. Meetings~ responsibilities. The transportation safety commission shall meet at least four times a year. The transportation safety commission shall be responsible for identifying and addressing matters of transporta- tion safety in or affecting the city and for recommending action to the city council when appropriate. The transportation safety commission shall recommend periodically to the city council plans for the formulation of the transportation safety program for the city and for conducting a periodic review of the operation and effect of such program."
