19801217 1980-27ORDINANCE No. 1980-27 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 14-19 AND 14-20 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Fairfax, Virginia that Sections 14-19 and 14-20 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia be and the same are hereby amended as follows: 1. Section 14-19 is amended to read in its entirety as follows: "Sec. 14-19. Petit larceny--Generally. No person shall steal, from the person of another, any money or other thing of a value of less than five dollars, and no person shall steal money or other thing of a value less than two hundred dollars not from the person of another." 2. Section 14-20 is amended to read in its entirety as follows: "Sec. 14-20. Same--Concealing, etc., merchandise; alterin$ price tags. Whoever, without authority, with the intention of converting goods or merchandise to his own or another's use without having paid the full purchase price thereof, or of defrauding the owner thereof out of the value of the goods or merchandise, wilfully conceals or takes possession of the goods or merchandise of any store or other mercantile establishment when the value of such goods or merchandise is less than two hundred dollars, alters the price tag or other price marking on such goods or merchandise having a value of less than two hundred dollars or transfers the goods or merchandise having a value of less than two hundred dollars from one container to another or counsels, assists, aids or abets another in the performance of any of the above acts, shall be deemed guilty of petit larceny and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as provided by section 1-6. The wilful concealment of goods or merchandise of any store or other mer- cantile establishment, while still on the premises thereof, shall be prima facie evidence of an intent to convert and defraud the owner thereof out of the value of the goods or merchandise."
